Empowering PwDs through Skill Development: MSDE–SCPwD SANKALP Scheme
he SANKALP Scheme (Skills Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion) is a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), launched with World Bank assistance. Under the SANKALP (Skills Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion) scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), the NIACE Foundation, in collaboration with the Skill Council for Persons with Disabilities (SCPwD), is implementing a transformative skill development initiative focused on Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).
Key Features of the Program:
Inclusive Training: The program delivers sector-specific skill training in areas such as Tourism & Hospitality, IT-ITeS, Apparel, Retail, and Electronics, tailored to the needs of PwD candidates.
Geographic Reach: Training is conducted across the state of Uttarakhand & Bihar, in district including Nainital, Vaishali.
Beneficiary Impact: Over 530 PwDs have been trained under this initiative, with a strong focus on industry-relevant skills and employability.
Placement Success: More than 70% of trained candidates have secured employment with leading organizations such as Flipkart, Amazon, Taj Resorts, and SPARK MINDA Corporation.
Post-Placement Support: Continuous mentoring and support are provided to ensure long-term employment stability and career progression.
This initiative exemplifies the power of public-private collaboration in advancing inclusive skilling and livelihood opportunities for marginalized communities, particularly PwDs.
