Empowering PwDs: NIACE Foundation's Training Initiative under DDU-GKY Scheme

The Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) is a flagship program of the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Government of India, aimed at providing skill training and placement opportunities to rural youth, including Persons with Disabilities (PwDs)

Under the DDU-GKY guidelines, special emphasis is placed on training and placement for disadvantaged groups. At the NIACE Foundation, we have conducted the DDU-GKY project exclusively for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), aiming to equip them with relevant skills for gainful employment and sustainable livelihoods.

Key aspects of the PwD Exclusive DDU-GKY initiative include:

  • Skill Training: 285 Beneficiaries received training in sectors such as Apparel and Electronics at Haldwani, Nainital, Uttarakhand.

  • Placement Assistance: Post-training, more than 65% of the trained PwD candidates have secured employment in organizations like Flipkart, Amazon, Taj Resorts, and SPARK MINDA Corporation etc.

  • Post-Placement Support: Continuous support is provided to ensure long-term employment stability.

  • Career Progression: Beneficiaries are encouraged to advance in their careers through additional training and support.

The program has demonstrated significant success in achieving its goals, with a substantial number of PwDs being trained and placed in employment.
