Skill Empowerment for PwDs under SANKALP–HPKVN Initiative (ADB-Funded)

Under the SANKALP initiative of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), the Himachal Pradesh Kaushal Vikas Nigam (HPKVN), with support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), successfully trained over 200 Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in Himachal Pradesh. The program focused on industry-aligned skill development, implemented in collaboration with the Skill Council for Persons with Disabilities (SCPwD). It aimed to enhance employability, promote inclusion, and provide post-placement support, contributing to sustainable livelihoods and inclusive growth in the state.

Under the SANKALP Scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), the Himachal Pradesh Kaushal Vikas Nigam (HPKVN), with support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), has successfully implemented a targeted skill development initiative for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).

Key Highlights:

• Beneficiaries: Over 200 PwD candidates trained across Himachal Pradesh.

• Training Focus: Sector-specific skill development aligned with National Occupational Standards (NOS) and Qualification Packs (QPs), ensuring industry relevance.

• Implementation Support: Conducted in collaboration with SCPwD (Skill Council for Persons with Disabilities) and certified training partners.

• Outcome-Oriented: The program emphasized employability, inclusion, and post-placement support, contributing to sustainable livelihoods for PwDs.

• Funding Support: Backed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) under the Himachal Pradesh Skills Development Project, which aims to modernize TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) infrastructure and systems in the state.

This initiative reflects HPKVN’s commitment to inclusive skilling and aligns with the broader goals of SANKALP—to strengthen institutional capacity, improve access to quality training, and promote equitable opportunities for all.
